Work with a leading patent agent
Your patent matters will be handled by Fredrik Mollborn, a licensed intellectual property professional. Fredrik is committed to following the rules and regulations established by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), while protecting your interests in the best possible way.
While Registered Patent Agents may not represent clients in court proceedings, or prepare non-patent legal documents, such as licensing and non-disclosure agreements, etc., they do conduct exactly the same tasks as registered Patents Attorneys with respect to the USPTO. Fredrik passed the Patent Bar Exam in 2001.
Extensive law firm experience in the U.S. and Europe
By working in leading intellectual property law firms in the U.S. and Europe, Fredrik has gained a significant understanding of the legal landscape surrounding the drafting and prosecution of patent applications. Working alongside senior litigators and senior patent attorneys, Fredrik has learned how to avoid the many pitfalls encountered when preparing and prosecuting patent applications. He also understands the importance of preparing for the possibility of the patent being involved in future litigation.
As a result, Fredrik drafts solid, clearly written patent applications. Fredrik has also developed many close personal relationships with attorneys and paralegals, both in the U.S. and abroad, who serve as powerful advisors in the appropriate situation.
Technical training, skills, and experience
Fredrik earned a Master’s Degree in Engineering Physics from the Lund Institute of Technology at Lund University in Sweden. This education provided a solid basis for his research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) in Cambridge, MA, and at the Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, CA.
Fredrik’s seven years of experience in Silicon Valley and continuous work with clients at the forefront of science and technology keep him up to date with the most recent developments, especially in the fields of software development, the Internet, semiconductor fabrication, optics, and medical devices.
Fredrik is intimately familiar with the European Patent system, as well as the U.S. system. He spent a number of years writing and prosecuting patent applications before the Swedish and European Patent Offices. Through international collaborations, he has also worked with patent procedures in countries such as Japan, Korea, India, and China, which are becoming increasingly important markets in a global economy.
In addition to English, Fredrik is fluent in the Scandinavian languages and proficient in French and German, which can often save costly translation fees when documents in these languages are cited by the Examiners in various patent offices.
Emphasis on patent strategies
At Mollborn Patents, Inc. thinking strategically is part of the regular drafting process. It is important to think through the underlying reasons for filing each patent application. Fredrik places particular emphasis on patent strategies for his smaller and mid-sized clients who often, in contrast to larger corporations, do not employ the services of an in-house patent team to develop their intellectual property strategies.
In devising a patent strategy, Fredrik typically involves a number of people with differing roles within the company, such as engineers, higher management, business intelligence people, sales people, and so on. Based on their input, he forms a plan for filing patent applications. This strategy is continually reviewed given the dynamic nature of today’s global markets.
Mollborn Patents, Inc. offers you straightforward, high-quality intellectual property services and information that is pertinent to your specific situation, at reasonable rates. Our overhead costs are low, and our highly trained professional and administrative staff works to keep the operation lean and efficient.
